Canada and Ukraine Strengthen Ties in Agricultural Industry

Canada and Ukraine convened a successful Agricultural Forum on March 1 in Kyiv. The event, organized by the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and experts. The forum aimed to discuss the current challenges in Ukraine’s agricultural and retail sectors and opportunities for cooperation between Canadian and Ukrainian companies and investors.

Reviving Ukraine’s Agricultural Sector

The Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitaliy Holovnya, emphasized the importance of the forum in promoting Ukrainian-Canadian cooperation in the agricultural sector. He noted that the forum will help establish relations between representatives of the agricultural business of the countries and attract investments. According to Holovnya, such cooperation is relevant not only at the interstate level, but also at the private level, particularly at the level of coordination and cooperation in private business.

Holovnya further explained that Ukraine and Canada are key players in ensuring food security in the world. He acknowledged that the Ukrainian agricultural sector currently needs the support of partners in providing seeds and fertilizers for the successful sowing campaign. Holovnya expressed his appreciation to Canada for being one of these partners. He encouraged participants to develop effective mechanisms of cooperation as soon as possible.

Opportunities for Bilateral Trade

During the forum, participants discussed opportunities, dynamics, and trends in bilateral trade. They identified areas of cooperation in the agri-food sector, including trade, investment, research and development, and innovation. The forum provided a unique platform for global companies that want to enter the Ukrainian agricultural business.

Overall, Canada-Ukraine agricultural cooperation continues to evolve and expand, driven by the shared interest in developing sustainable and innovative agriculture practices that can benefit both countries.
