The Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) began its 2025 activities by hosting Ambassador Celso Amorim, currently the Chief Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic and one of the most central figures in Brazilian diplomacy. During the meeting on January 7, Amorim shared strategic insights on the opportunities and challenges Brazil faces in an increasingly complex international scenario. He underscored the pivotal strategic role Brazil would play during its BRICS presidency in 2025, emphasizing the group’s importance for the nation’s foreign policy and global influence.
Amorim, known for his pragmatic approach, stressed the fundamental need for Brazil to act strategically by prioritizing national interests above all else. This approach involves actively strengthening the country’s engagement in international cooperation with a diverse range of stakeholders. Furthermore, the Ambassador highlighted the long-term importance of consolidating regional initiatives such as Mercosur and UNASUR as key mechanisms for regional integration and expanding Brazil’s overall influence on the global stage.
The meeting saw the participation of numerous experts and leaders from both the public and private sectors, including representatives from associated companies such as Vale, Banco Bocom BBM, and Prumo Logística. The consensus focused on navigating the new geopolitical landscape through strategic pragmatism, with Amorim’s vision setting the tone for Brazil’s foreign policy agenda in the new year.
