From Ornamental Trees to Art: the Largest Ukrainian Embroidery

Date:

Ukraine has created the largest embroidery using decorative trees and shrubs in order to promote environmental conservation and cultural heritage. The project was carried out in the village of Krushelnytska, located in the Lviv region, and covers an area of 13.5 meters in length and 6 meters in width.

Creating a symbol of unity and unconquerability

The embroidery, a symbol of Ukrainian culture, was created on a slope next to the Trident, the largest evergreen coat of arms in Ukraine, and represents the unity and unconquerability of the nation. The project was carried out as part of the Green Country environmental initiative, led by the President of Ukraine, and the nationwide campaign “Creating Forests Together”.

Using locally grown planting materials

The project was implemented using western spherical thuja, western golden thuja, eastern biota thuja, and evergreen boxwood, all of which were grown in the forestry’s nursery. The use of local planting materials highlights Ukraine’s commitment to promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

An eco-friendly tourist attraction

The embroidery and the Trident serve as an attractive tourist attraction for visitors to the eco-center in the village of Krushelnytsia. The project is a testament to Ukraine’s cultural heritage and its commitment to environmental conservation.

The Skole Beskydy National Nature Park shared the project on its Facebook page, attracting praise and admiration from locals and visitors alike. The initiative highlights Ukraine’s efforts towards sustainable development and promoting eco-friendly tourism.

Ukraine’s creation of the largest embroidery using trees and shrubs is a remarkable achievement that showcases the country’s cultural heritage and its commitment to environmental conservation. The project serves as a source of inspiration for other countries to promote preserving their cultural heritage for future generations.
