“Ukrainian Books for Ukrainian Children” Campaign spreads to 25 countries

The Ukrainian Books for Ukrainian Children campaign has successfully distributed almost 600,000 copies of textbooks, study guides, and fiction in Ukraine and abroad. The campaign was launched by the State Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting with the support of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Distribution to Ukraine and 25 European countries

The books have been distributed to readers in 25 European countries, including Belgium, France, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Romania, Albania, Hungary, Germany, the Republic of Cyprus, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Sweden. Domestic publishers from all over Ukraine have joined the charity event, collecting one million copies of books. The campaign has been an overwhelming success, with readers receiving almost 600,000 books, covering Ukraine and 25 European countries.

Initiative for Ukrainian children

The idea of the charity event is to provide textbooks and fiction to children who have been forced to leave their homes due to Russian aggression and temporarily move to safer regions of Ukraine and abroad. The campaign is not just about providing reading material, it is also about helping Ukrainian children maintain their emotional connection with their country. The campaign has been promoted with the support of publishers at various book fairs, where Ukraine was actively represented.

International support for Ukrainian authors

The success of the campaign has led to an increased interest in Ukrainian literature in other countries. In France and Germany, books by contemporary Ukrainian authors are being translated into French and German, and French and German authors are being translated into Ukrainian. These countries allocate special funds to promote this process. Ukraine has also launched the “European Books for Ukrainian Youth” project, which sees European countries donating high-quality European books to Ukraine. The Books Without Borders project has also distributed more than 200,000 books for children abroad.
