Ukrainian application allows to pay EU road tolls in advance

Date:

A team of Ukrainian developers has launched the eTOLLs EU app, which allows drivers to pay road tolls in advance while also bypassing cash queues. The app provides information on toll road tariffs and enables users to purchase vignettes for toll roads in several European countries, including Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. In the future, the app’s developers plan to expand the number of countries to include other European nations.

The eTOLLs EU app is free to download and enables users to enter their license plate number, check information, select a country of travel, and choose a convenient payment method. Once the user has purchased a vignette, the app sends a push notification when it expires. The founders of the project also plan to introduce a feature that will allow users to plan their routes, showing the toll sections of the highway and how much it will cost.

Denys Dmytrov, the co-founder of the project Fines UA and eTOLLs EU, explained that the app is designed to simplify the process of buying vignettes, which can sometimes be inconvenient and difficult to purchase in a digital format. In addition, the app helps drivers avoid paying high fines if they are stopped by police for driving on toll roads without a vignette. The founders noted that Russian users will not be able to use the app, but in the future, the app will provide an option for users to voluntarily donate a certain amount to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The eTOLLs EU app was developed by the same team that created the Shtrafy UA service for checking and paying fines. Development began in June 2022, and the official launch took place in February 2023.

The app has the potential to save drivers time and money, while also streamlining the process of paying road tolls. With its easy-to-use interface, the eTOLLs EU app is poised to become a popular tool for drivers traveling on toll roads in Europe.
