A luxury Lamborghini veered onto a footpath in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur after its driver allegedly suffered a sudden seizure while driving, leaving one pedestrian injured and sparking questions over how a high-performance car was being driven despite a known medical condition.
The incident took place on an express road near the Gwal Toli area when Shivam, son of tobacco trader A K Mishra, was behind the wheel of the Lamborghini. Police said the driver experienced dizziness and a seizure but attempted to control the vehicle, steering it away from the main carriageway and onto the footpath.
PEDESTRIAN INJURED, AUTO HIT
During the manoeuvre, a young man standing on the footpath, identified as Taufiq Ahmed, was injured, and the car also collided with an autorickshaw. Despite the impact, the driver managed to bring the vehicle to a halt at the roadside.
POLICE SEIZE CAR, PROBE MEDICAL CLAIMS
A crowd gathered at the spot after the crash, with several onlookers stopping after noticing the luxury vehicle. The Gwal Toli police were informed and reached the scene soon after. The Lamborghini was taken to the police station, and the injured pedestrian was sent to hospital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Central Atul Srivastava said one person was injured and had been taken for medical treatment. “So far, no written complaint has been received. The vehicle has been taken into custody and kept at the police station. Action will be taken based on the application received,” he said. “We are also verifying whether the person driving the car actually suffers from seizures.”
INJURED MAN SPEAKS
Taufiq Ahmed, who was hurt in the incident, said he was standing on the footpath when the car suddenly came towards him. He is undergoing treatment and his condition is said to be stable.
