Egypt Urges Israel to Withdraw from Five Occupied Locations in Southern Lebanon 🇪🇬🇱🇧

Date:

Egypt has issued a firm diplomatic demand for Israel to withdraw immediately from five occupied border outposts in southern Lebanon. The call was made by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly during a joint press conference in Cairo with his Lebanese counterpart, Nawaf Salam, following the 10th session of the Egypt-Lebanon Joint Higher Committee on Sunday, November 2, 2025. This action reinforces Egypt’s continued role as a key regional mediator and defender of Arab sovereignty.

Prime Minister Madbouly strongly condemned recent Israeli attacks and violations in southern Lebanon, which have continued despite a November 2024 ceasefire agreed upon with Hezbollah. Israel has remained in the five strategic hill locations, captured during the year-long cross-border hostilities that began in October 2023. Egypt’s renewed demand emphasizes its position that Israel must fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and completely withdraw from all Lebanese territory to restore national stability.

Beyond the security agenda, the two nations signed 15 agreements to bolster bilateral cooperation, covering critical sectors such as energy, reconstruction, trade, and food security. Madbouly affirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s economic recovery, with the goal of doubling their annual trade exchange, which reached approximately $1 billion in 2024. The Egyptian Prime Minister also announced plans to visit Beirut in December to follow up on the implementation of these economic pacts.
