Malaysia’s Partnership with BRICS: Boosting Tourism and Economic Ties

Date:

Malaysia is looking to strengthen its global presence by fostering closer ties with BRICS, a coalition of emerging economies. According to Malaysia’s ambassador to Moscow, Cheong Loon Lai, this partnership has the potential to significantly enhance tourist flows to the country, particularly from Russia.

In an interview with TASS, Cheong Loon Lai emphasized that cooperation with BRICS would not only bolster tourism but also stimulate growth across various economic sectors. “I think this partnership will contribute to the development of many areas, including tourism. We anticipate a substantial increase in tourist traffic between Malaysia and Russia,” the ambassador noted.

This announcement follows the recent BRICS Summit in Kazan, where Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that the group has identified potential partner countries. While the list of these nations remains undisclosed, the initial phase involves sending invitations and making announcements once confirmations are received.

For Malaysia, closer ties with BRICS open new avenues for collaboration, economic growth, and cultural exchange, positioning the nation as an attractive destination for international tourists.
