Lordina Foundation Sponsors Free Health Screening for Retired Pastors

Date:

In a heartwarming act of generosity, former First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama, through the Lordina Foundation, organized a free health screening for members of the Assemblies of God Retired Ministers and Spouses Association in Accra. This initiative, part of a pledge to host quarterly health exercises, seeks to improve the medical welfare of retired pastors and their spouses.

Comprehensive Healthcare Services Provided

The health screening included laboratory tests for blood sugar levels, Hepatitis B, and prostate health. Participants also had consultations with urologists, gynecologists, dietitians, opticians, and general practitioners. Additionally, the foundation provided free medications to those who required prescriptions, alleviating financial burdens for many beneficiaries.

Rev. Kwame Sarpong Boateng, a board member of the Lordina Foundation, explained that the initiative aims to address the health concerns of retired ministers, offering them care they may otherwise struggle to afford.

Broader Impact of the Lordina Foundation

The Lordina Foundation is renowned for its charitable initiatives, including support for orphanages, widows, and the elderly, as well as constructing maternity and children’s wards in three regions of Ghana. The foundation also supplies medical facilities with essential resources and supports artisans with tools and training.

Dr. Padiki Derban, leader of the medical team, lauded the initiative, noting its significance in providing timely interventions for retired pastors, many of whom face financial challenges in accessing healthcare.

Testimonials from Beneficiaries

Reverend Professor Kwesi Krereko, a retired pastor and beneficiary of the program, described the event as a lifeline for retired ministers, enhancing their quality of life after years of dedicated service.

Association President Reverend Dr. Harry Insaidoo expressed amazement at the thoroughness of the screenings, highlighting the cost savings and the invaluable support provided by the initiative. “This kind of screening would cost a fortune at a medical facility,” he remarked, expressing gratitude for the comprehensive care.

Looking Ahead

Mrs. Mahama, who personally engaged with the beneficiaries and medical team, expressed her excitement about the success of the event. She hopes future health screenings will reach even more retired pastors and their families, furthering the foundation’s mission to uplift vulnerable communities in Ghana.

The Lordina Foundation’s free health screening for retired pastors underscores its unwavering commitment to addressing social challenges and supporting those who have selflessly served their communities.
