Iran Reaffirms Safety and Security for Hosting International Football Matches

Date:

Iran has reaffirmed its readiness and capability to host international football matches in a safe and secure environment. Mehdi Taj, President of the Iranian Football Federation, has officially addressed Sheikh Salman, President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), assuring him that Iran is fully prepared for upcoming AFC events, including the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and club competitions.

Assurance of Safety and Security

In his detailed correspondence, Taj highlighted Iran’s stable environment, stating that there have been no safety or security concerns in the country. Despite the Iranian national team and clubs being required to play home matches on neutral grounds during October and November, the letter emphasized that conditions in Iran remain suitable for hosting international events.

Iran’s Track Record of Successful Events

Taj pointed out that international and domestic flights, briefly disrupted on October 1 due to regional tensions, have since resumed normal operations. Major airlines have reinstated their flights to Iran, and the country continues to host international events across various sports without incident.

He also referenced Iran’s successful hosting of past events, with participants from numerous countries attending safely. This track record reinforces Iran’s commitment and readiness to welcome AFC competitions back to its home soil.

Facilitate Home Matches

Taj urged the AFC to take appropriate measures to facilitate the hosting of home matches in Iran. He expressed confidence that Iran’s infrastructure, safety measures, and football enthusiasm would ensure an excellent experience for teams and fans alike.
