Corinthians Secure Spot in Women’s Libertadores Final with Victory Over Boca Juniors

The Corinthians women’s soccer team, widely known as the Brabas do Timão, have advanced to the final of the Women’s Copa Libertadores after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Boca Juniors (Argentina) on Tuesday, October 15. The decisive semifinal match took place at the Conmebol Stadium in Luque, Paraguay.

The game showcased evenly matched teams, with intense competition throughout. Corinthians, under the leadership of coach Lucas Piccinato, displayed resilience and tactical prowess. The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when Jaqueline made an incisive run down the right wing, delivering a precise cross into the penalty area. Millene expertly redirected the ball to Gabi Zanotti, who volleyed it home, securing the victory.

This win sets the stage for Corinthians’ attempt to claim their fifth Women’s Libertadores title. The team has previously lifted the trophy in 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023. The final match will take place on Saturday, October 19, at Defensores del Chaco Stadium in Asunción, Paraguay. Corinthians will face the winner of the second semifinal between Independiente Del Valle Dragonas (Ecuador) and Santa Fe (Colombia).

Dominance of Brazilian Teams

Brazilian teams have a storied history in the Women’s Copa Libertadores, claiming 12 of the 15 titles since the tournament’s inception. Corinthians lead the pack with four victories, followed by São José with three, Santos and Ferroviária with two each, and Palmeiras with one.

The upcoming final is an opportunity for Corinthians to further cement their legacy as the most successful team in the history of the competition.
