The West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) said on Saturday that Mali’s exclusion from its bodies and institutions had been lifted.
Mali has been expelled from the group since January 2022 in order to support the junta’s plan to hold onto power for another five years.
Following the first coup in August 2020, Mali was also expelled from the regional organisation ECOWAS.
After the junta declared a transitional phase lasting until March 2024, the trade and financial restrictions were lifted in July 2022.
On the way to returning to civilian administration in March 2024, the Malian people overwhelmingly adopted the draught of a new Constitution in June.
