Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra Set to Thrill European Audiences with Second Tour

In August, the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra under the direction of Canadian-Ukrainian conductor Carrie-Lynn Wilson is scheduled to showcase their musical talents at esteemed venues including the Barbican Center in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elb Philharmonic in Hamburg, and the Lucerne Festival. Additionally, they will captivate audiences with an open-air performance in Berlin on August 24, coinciding with Ukraine’s Independence Day.

The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra is gearing up for their highly anticipated second tour, captivating audiences across Europe with their musical prowess. Under the dynamic leadership of conductor Carrie-Lynn Wilson, this orchestra promises to deliver unforgettable performances that celebrate Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage.

The orchestra’s tour will kick off at the Polish National Opera with a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Collaborating with the Polish Opera Choir in Bialystok and an impressive lineup of Ukrainian soloists, including Olha Kulchynska, Nicole Chirka, Dmytro Popov, and Vladyslav Buyalsky, the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

A Musical Journey of Freedom and Unity

The tour will showcase a diverse program that encompasses Yevhen Stankovych’s Second Violin Concerto and Ludwig van Beethoven’s monumental Third Symphony “Eroica”. The highlight of the tour will be the grand open-air concert at Schönhausen Palace in Berlin on August 24th, coinciding with Ukraine’s Independence Day. Thousands of people are expected to gather.

The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra is comprised of 74 gifted musicians from the National Opera of Ukraine, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, and the Lviv National Opera. Additionally, talented Ukrainian musicians from European orchestras will join their ranks. The orchestra’s performances during the summer Freedom Tour 2023 will showcasу Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage and the enduring relevance of classical music.

The Metropolitan Opera and the Polish National Opera, renowned for their unwavering support of the arts, stand in solidarity with Ukraine. The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland has generously provided funding for rehearsals and concerts in Warsaw and Gdansk.
