Saudi Arabia Visa Update: Fine-Free Exit, New Extension Rules Amid Iran–US-Israel War

Date:

Saudi Arabia has announced temporary measures to address the status of visitors whose visas have expired, offering flexibility to those unable to leave due to disruptions caused by the ongoing US–Israel war with Iran. The move comes as authorities respond to travel difficulties linked to the conflict.

The Ministry of Interior said the decision applies to holders of visit visas, Umrah visas, transit visas and final exit permits that expired around late February 2026. The initiative is aimed at helping those who were unable to depart the Kingdom as planned.

In the first option, Saudi Arabia allows visa holders to apply for an extension through their host. The extension will remain valid until April 18, 2026, provided the required fees are paid via the Absher platform. This enables visitors to regularise their stay and remain in the Kingdom for a limited period.

Alternatively, individuals with expired visas will be permitted to exit Saudi Arabia directly through international departure points.

In this case, Saudi Arabia has said there will be no requirement to renew visas, and no fees or overstay fines will be imposed. The option is designed to ease the departure process for those wishing to leave immediately.

The Ministry clarified that the measures apply to visas that expired on February 25 and 26, 2026, ensuring all affected individuals during this period are covered under the directive

Saudi Arabia has urged all eligible visa holders to make use of the grace period and complete their departure before April 18, warning that failure to do so could result in penalties under existing regulations.

The move, implemented under directives from the Saudi leadership, is aimed at easing procedures for visitors and residents affected by current regional conditions. Officials added that the decision also seeks to ensure smooth operations at international entry and exit points across the Kingdom while maintaining compliance with established rules.
