Date:

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have formally joined the Cruise Arabia Alliance during the World Travel Market (WTM) 2025 held in London. This strategic move aims to collectively bolster the Gulf-region cruise tourism sector, signaling a major commitment by both nations to expand their non-oil economies through experiential travel and hospitality. The alliance now includes key players in the Gulf, allowing for better coordination of cruise itineraries and marketing strategies on the international stage.

The Cruise Arabia Alliance is designed to serve as the unified body for developing the regional cruise tourism sector. Its core objectives include enhancing regional connectivity between Gulf destinations, streamlining border procedures for cruise passengers, and leveraging the unique cultural and leisure offerings of each port for sea-based travel growth. For Saudi Arabia, joining the alliance is a key component of its Vision 2030 tourism strategy, which seeks to establish the Kingdom as a major global hub for travel, with significant investments planned for new cruise infrastructure and port development on both the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf coasts.

The move is expected to drive growing opportunities for tourism stakeholders in ancillary services, port development, and ground operations across the Gulf. By providing seamless, multi-country itineraries, the alliance hopes to attract major international cruise lines, ultimately increasing the flow of global tourists and diversifying the region’s economic drivers.
