Kenya asks Sweden for technical support ahead of Climate Summit

Date:

The Kenyan Cabinet Secretary of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Soipan Tuya is seeking the expertise of Swedish scientists to help prepare adequate focal points for the upcoming African Climate Summit.

Soipan Tuya, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry in Kenya, has asked the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), a center for environmental research, to provide Kenya with the technical assistance it needs to co-host the first African Climate Summit, which will take place in Nairobi later this year. Tuya is currently in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.

A three-day climate action conference will be held in Kenya from September 4 to 6, as a consequence of the African Union’s determination to continue the conversation about climate change.

The Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) is presently led by Kenyan President William Ruto.

By utilizing regional platforms like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the summit aims to advance green economic investments, the green industrial revolution, foster agreement on critical climate problems, and foster increased financial support for climate action in Africa.
