Iran asks youth to form human chains around power plants as Trump’s deadline nears

Date:

The Iranian regime has urged its civilians, including youth, artists and athletes, to form human chains at power plants across the country on April 7 to prevent a potential US attack targeting public infrastructure. The development came a few days after US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with attacking power plants if the conflict-torn Strait of Hormuz does not become fully operational after the due course of time.

Announcing the plan and encouraging the citizens, Alireza Rahimi, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, wrote on X, “We will stand hand in hand to say: Attacking public infrastructure is a war crime.”

He further mentioned that the initiative, titled “Iran’s Youth Human Chain for a Bright Future,” is aimed at showcasing solidarity and support towards the actions of the armed forces against the “aggressors”, as reported by Iran International.

TRUMP’S THREAT TO IRAN

On April 6, Trump issued a threat against Iran in the most Trumpian way possible.

He openly warned of coordinated attacks on Tehran’s power plants and bridges. The language, however, drew as much attention as the threat itself, with the US President openly hurling insults at Iran while demanding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fun’ Strait, you crazy bards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J TRUMP,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. Hours later, he further wrote, “Tuesday, 8:00 PM Eastern Time!” However, the latter update on Truth Social did not have a direct reference to Iran.

Meanwhile, a recent Axios article suggests that Trump might postpone his plans to attack public infrastructure in Iran if he sees signs of an impending agreement between Tehran and Washington. The article, which cited a top US official, said that Trump alone has the authority to instruct an attack on Iran, however, he may not go for it, depending on the existing situation.
