In India, Armed robbers shoot man, flee with Rs 6 lakh outside Hyderabad ATM

Date:

A man was shot and robbed of Rs 6 lakh in cash by a group of armed assailants outside a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM in Hyderabad in the early hours of Saturday.

The victim, identified as Rasheed, had gone to the ATM to deposit a large sum of cash when a group of armed assailants allegedly opened fire on him, forcibly snatched the money and fled the spot, leaving him with a bullet injury to his leg.

The man was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital by locals, where he is currently undergoing treatment and is said to be out of danger.

Following the incident, police and forensic teams were immediately deployed at the scene to collect evidence, and a detailed investigation has been launched, with CCTV footage from the ATM and surrounding areas being closely examined to identify the accused, trace their escape route and establish the sequence of events leading up to the attack.

The incident came days after a duo looted a jewellery shop in Karnataka’s Vijayapura by threatening the staff and customers with the help of country-made pistols.

According to sources, the robbers were dressed in black jackets and were wearing gloves and helmets, and rode in on a bullet.

They held a few staff at gunpoint and looted all the gold ornaments. A CCTV, which was placed nearby, recorded the heist.

The burglars also fired two rounds into the air, with one of them hitting the right leg of a local youth, who was subsequently hospitalised for treatment.
