UAE Leaders Celebrate Eid Al Etihad with Spectacular Light and Drone Show

Jebel Hafeet National Park was transformed into a breathtaking venue to celebrate Eid Al Etihad, as UAE leaders and citizens gathered to honor the nation’s history, heritage, and future. With the stunning backdrop of Jebel Hafeet, the event featured a 40-minute show that blended cultural traditions with cutting-edge technology.

A Celebration of UAE Heritage

The event was graced by President Sheikh Mohamed, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and other Rulers of the Emirates, who witnessed the story of the UAE unfold through seven chapters. The narrative honored the visionaries who built the nation and inspired the audience to continue their legacy.

The celebration highlighted the natural connection between the UAE’s heritage and its progress, emphasizing how the natural world shaped the country’s development.

Highlights of the Event

  1. Thuraya Constellation
The opening chapter began in 2,500 BC, showcasing how the Thuraya star cluster guided travelers and tribesmen in navigating weather patterns and synchronizing their activities with nature.
  2. Innovation in Water Management
The second chapter delved into the creation of the falaj, a rudimentary irrigation system that transformed arid deserts into lush oases, symbolizing the ingenuity of early Emirati society.
  3. Community and Trade
Camels took center stage in chapter three, representing their crucial role in expanding trade routes and connecting communities. The narrative also highlighted the significance of the palm tree, a vital resource for nutrition and construction.
  4. Sheikh Zayed’s Vision
Chapter four paid tribute to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, exploring his early years in Al Ain and his leadership that laid the foundation for the nation’s future.
  5. Union Proclamation
A pivotal moment in UAE history, the signing of the Union Pledge in 1971, was revisited, accompanied by the voice of Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi proclaiming the nation’s unity.
  6. Innovation and Sustainability
Chapter six looked toward the future, showcasing the UAE’s emergence as a hub for AI and technology, while emphasizing sustainable development and learning from past mistakes.
  7. Cultural Finale
The event concluded with a Harbiya dance performed by hundreds of schoolchildren, celebrating Bedouin culture and paying homage to the late Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed.

Sustainability at the Heart

Organizers ensured the celebration adhered to sustainable practices. The modular stage used for the event will be recycled, while 3D-printed coral reefs are being planted along the UAE coastline to restore marine environments. Instead of fireworks, a light and drone show illuminated the sky, narrating the UAE’s history through dazzling visuals.

A National Legacy

The Eid Al Etihad celebration was more than a festive event; it was a tribute to the UAE’s enduring legacy and future aspirations. Combining tradition with innovation, the ceremony inspired all those who call the UAE home to honor its heritage and contribute to its bright future.
