The European Union (EU) has proposed to include Ukraine in its free roaming zone, allowing Ukrainian mobile users to use their devices in any of the EU Member States without additional charges.
The EC proposes to include this paragraph in the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine.
The website of the European regulator says that the abolition of roaming will be one of the important stages for the implementation of an in-depth and comprehensive free trade zone between the EU and Ukraine.
It is expected that the proposal will be tabled in the Council of the European Union in the coming weeks. After this processing, the EU-Ukraine Trade Committee will be entrusted with the issues and ways of implementation of the project.
This initiative seeks to create a single digital market across the European Union, making mobile services and data more affordable for all citizens.
Ukraine is the first non-EU country to be included in the free roaming zone. This is a step towards closer ties between the EU and Ukraine, and will benefit both sides in the long run. Ukrainian citizens will no longer have to worry about paying extra roaming charges while traveling in the EU, while the EU will benefit from increased economic development and closer ties with Ukraine.
The EU’s free roaming zone covers mobile services and data, but not voice calls. This means that Ukrainian mobile users will be able to use their devices to access the internet, send emails, and use other mobile services without having to worry about extra charges. The Roam Like at Home program also means that Ukrainians can use their mobile devices in any EU country without having to change their SIM cards.
The EU’s free roaming zone also offers several other benefits. For example, it will encourage more Ukrainians to travel to EU countries, helping to stimulate economic activity in both the EU and Ukraine. It will also make it easier for Ukrainians to use their mobile devices for business purposes, allowing them to make international calls, send emails, and access the internet without having to worry about additional charges.
The inclusion of Ukraine in the EU’s free roaming zone is a positive step for both the EU and Ukraine. It will make it easier for Ukrainians to use their mobile devices while traveling in the EU, while also encouraging more Ukrainians to travel to the EU and stimulating economic activity in both the EU and Ukraine. The EU’s commitment to its free roaming zone is a sign of its commitment to a single digital market across the European Union and its willingness to work with non-EU countries to create a more connected and prosperous Europe.
Currently many telecommunication operators of the European Union already provide users from Ukraine the opportunity to make calls without payment for roaming.
However, so far, this is their voluntary decision. Thanks to this solidarity, about 4 million people are living in poverty. migrants in Europe can call home free of charge on fixed phone numbers or mobile operators.
