Ghana’s government will establish committee to roll out constitutional reforms

Date:

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the government will soon establish a Constitutional Review Implementation Committee (CRIC) to oversee the rollout of reforms recommended by the Constitutional Review Committee.

Speaking on Monday, March 30, during an engagement with civil society organisations at the Jubilee House in Accra, President Mahama said the government is currently examining the committee’s recommendations and preparing for the next phase of implementation.

He said the implementation will begin when Parliament reconvenes.

“Government is currently examining the recommendations of the Constitutional Review Committee and very soon we will announce the formation of the constitutional review implementation committee (CRIC) to oversee the next steps towards constitutional review.

The implementation of agreed reforms will commence when parliament reconvenes following constitutional and legislative procedures,” he said.

The newly formed committee will coordinate and manage the process to ensure that the reforms are executed effectively and transparently.

President Mahama underscored the government’s commitment to moving from recommendations to action, highlighting that the implementation phase is crucial for translating the review process into tangible constitutional improvements.
