China’s Vice Premier Calls for Enhanced Economic and Trade Cooperation with Spain and EU

Date:

China’s Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a key address at a recent China-Spain business forum, using the platform to call for significantly enhanced economic and trade cooperation with Spain and the broader European Union. This high-level dialogue signals China’s active diplomatic strategy to strengthen external partnerships and maintain vital trade and investment links, even as the nation pursues its ambitious domestic goals of technological self-reliance under the 14th and 15th Five-Year Plans.

The Vice Premier emphasized that China’s strategy is not one of isolation, but of dual circulation, where robust domestic growth is complemented by strong, mutually beneficial global economic engagement. The focus of the renewed cooperation with European partners centers on high-value areas, including green development, digital economy, and high-tech manufacturing, sectors where China is seeking both foreign investment and expertise.

This push for deeper China-Europe trade cooperation is crucial for global investors and businesses. It highlights that despite geopolitical headwinds and US pressure, China remains committed to multilateralism and maintaining its status as a core engine of global commerce. The dialogue with Spain, a key EU member, is a strategic move to secure political and economic access to the European market.
