UAE to Serve as Guest Country of Honour at China’s CIIE 2025 Summit in Shanghai 🇦🇪🇨🇳

Date:

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been selected to participate as the Guest Country of Honour at the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE 2025), scheduled to take place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. This prestigious role underscores the deepening strategic ties between the UAE and China, which has grown to become the UAE’s leading global trading partner. The UAE delegation will be led by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reflecting the high political priority given to the relationship.

The UAE’s participation will focus on showcasing opportunities for collaboration in high-priority, non-oil sectors, specifically: advanced technology and AI, clean energy and green development, food security, and logistics/infrastructure. This aligns with both the UAE’s “We the UAE 2031” vision for economic diversification and China’s push to open its vast market to quality international goods and innovation. The CIIE aims to leverage its platform for international procurement, investment promotion, and technological exchange.

The decision to feature the UAE comes as the Middle East is poised for significant growth, with the country aiming to position itself as a key player in the global digital economy. The event is expected to facilitate major trade agreements and investment deals, reinforcing the UAE’s role as a crucial gateway to the Middle East and Africa, with over 60% of China’s regional exports already transiting through the Emirates.
