In an effort to showcase Namibia as a viable trade partner and investment destination, the Namibian High Commission in Ghana recently hosted the Namibia Investment and Trade Business Forum.

Namibia, according to the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, is on track to strengthen its footprint in Ghana and beyond, with significant participation in the 53rd General Assembly of the World Trade Centres Association (WTCA), which took place in Accra from April 23 to April 28, 2023.

According to the statement, the delegation hosted the Investment and Trade Business Forum at the Namibian High Commission in Accra to “create linkages with the local business community, while highlighting the comparative advantages that position Namibia as a lucrative trading partner and investment destination.”

Over 100 entrepreneurs from Ghana’s oil and gas, real estate, agribusiness, tourism, mining, ICT, arts, and fashion industries attended the event. Lucia Iipumbu, Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, addressed the event on Namibia’s investment climate and economic potential, while Nangula Uaandja, Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), spoke on investment opportunities in Namibia.

“Namibia also had an attractive exhibition booth where various products including meat and meat products, dairy products, pomegranates, dates, maize and wheat products, beer, wine, spirits, cow hides, cosmetics, charcoal, artefacts, Nakara handbags and coats, were displayed,” he said.

The 53rd General Assembly of the WTCA was the first of its type to be convened in Sub-Saharan Africa, according to the statement. High-level corporate and government representatives from all around the world attend the yearly event.

Under the sub-theme “Namibia: the land of many opportunities,” Namibia participated at the General Assembly with an emphasis on agriculture, fishing, mining, tourism, energy, logistics infrastructure, and real estate.
