Ukrainian-Produced Films Triumph at Off Camera Festival

Two Ukrainian-produced films have won awards at the Off Camera Independent Film Festival in Poland. “Do You Love Me?” directed by Tonia Noyabrskaya won the prize for the best international drama film at the festival held in Krakow. Meanwhile, “Dad” directed by Anna Malizhevska was named the best Polish film at the event. The lead actor in “Dad,” Eric Lubos, also received the best acting award.

International Drama Winner – “Do You Love Me?”

“Do You Love Me?” was produced by FAMILY PRODUCTION and filmed in co-production with Sweden with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The film tells the story of a 17-year-old girl named Kira who witnesses her parents’ divorce on the eve of the fall of the Soviet Union and the birth of a new country. The world premiere of the film took place at the Berlinale in the Panorama program earlier this year.

Best Polish Film Winner – “Dad”

“Dad” was produced by FAMILY PRODUCTION and filmed in co-production with Poland with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The film is about a single father named Lyubosh who works as a trucker. When Lyubosh is on the road, his daughter is taken care of by a Ukrainian woman. However, the woman suddenly dies, and Lyubosh embarks on an unexpected journey where he learns the true meaning of fatherhood and what is most important in life.

These two Ukrainian-produced films showcase the country’s growing prominence in the film industry, particularly in co-productions with other European nations. The Ukrainian State Film Agency has been instrumental in supporting these productions and helping to bring Ukrainian stories to an international audience.

In overall, “Do You Love Me?” and “Dad” are two outstanding films that showcase Ukrainian talent and storytelling on an international stage. With more and more Ukrainian films gaining recognition, the country is sure to continue making its mark on the global film industry.
