First sports academy to be launched in Tanzania

Date:

Tan Warriors, a company founded by Tanzanian entrepreneur Mainga Kalaita in association with the Tanzanian Ministry of Culture and Sports, has partnered with Bergs & More Legal, Tax and Business Advisory to establish Tanzania’s first multisport academy. The new Tan Warriors Sport Academy will be located in Morogoro, near the Tanzanian capital of Dar Es Salaam, and will provide facilities for more than 100 athletes, including sports fields, a gym, an indoor arena, study rooms, a canteen, and a boarding school.

Establishment of the Tan Warriors Sport Academy

Bergs & More Legal, Tax and Business Advisory provided consultancy to Tan Warriors, led by Riccardo Giacomin, the firm’s founding partner and department head. The firm provided assistance in the creation of the Tan Warriors Sport Academy’s infrastructure, sports offerings, management aspects, and agreements necessary for its implementation, as well as obtaining the structured finance required to complete the project. The consultancy was based on Bergs & More’s extensive experience in international sports law. The Italian ambassador to the Republic of Tanzania and Tanzanian Minister of Culture and Sport Pindi Chana, as well as Tanzanian ambassador to Italy Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, attended the agreement signing ceremony at the Italian ambassador’s residence.

Positive Social Impact

Riccardo Giacomin, the founding partner and department head of Bergs & More, expressed pride in the company’s contribution to the academy. Bergs & More’s extensive track record and expertise in sports business, corporate, and finance have been essential in structuring the complex transactions needed for this project and providing relevant advice. Bergs & More has long been accustomed to operating in international contexts, making them effective in multicultural environments. The aim of the academy is to foster the growth and pursuit of sports talent among young Tanzanians. The academy will provide them with an environment that is focused on supporting their development in terms of infrastructure. The project hopes to generate a positive social impact throughout the country.
