Ethiopia’s Finance Minister Calls on American Companies to Invest in Ethiopia

Finance Minister, Ahmed Shide urges American companies to invest in Ethiopia. He also expressed a brighter window of growing Ethio-US business and investment collaboration.

The minister said this during the Wednesday Ethio-US Business Forum in Washington, D.C.

Leading business figures from the US and Ethiopia attended the session to learn more about the numerous investment opportunities in Ethiopia.

The government of Ethiopia has taken a variety of steps, some of which were cited by the finance minister of Ethiopia. These include the national initiative to make doing business easier, the updated commercial legislation, the recently established public-private partnership program, and a comprehensive privatization and liberalization program.

He underlined Ethiopia’s commitment to bringing about lasting peace, stability, and economic growth.

Lelisse Neme, the Ethiopian Investment Commissioner, outlined the favourable investment prospects in Ethiopia, including those in manufacturing, agro-processing, construction, energy, tourism, and the mining industry.

She emphasized that now is a great moment to invest in Ethiopia while highlighting the numerous benefits offered by the government.

Ambassador Seleshi Bekele of Ethiopia to the USA stated that the embassy is ready to support trade and investment by highlighting opportunities in Ethiopia, facilitating access to information that will increase and facilitate investment, and improving services for investors.

Florizelle Lizer, president and chief executive officer of the Corporate Council on Africa, reaffirmed her organization’s steadfast commitment to helping connect US companies with their Ethiopian counterparts and promote rising US investment in Ethiopia.
