Cameroon Science Week: A Platform for Cameroon-France Scientific Cooperation

Cameroon Science Week, the event, which took place from Monday, April 3 to Friday, April 7, 2023 in France, provided a platform to showcase the scientific potential of Cameroonian researchers and to expand scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries. An initiative aimed at enhancing scientific relations between Cameroon and France, was attended by a delegation of the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation, led by Minister Madeleine Tchuinte.

Scientific Partnership

During the five-day event, various research institutes, led by Minresi and represented in Paris, strengthened existing partnerships with French institutes and developed new platforms for collaboration in terms of knowledge sharing, expertise, training of researchers, and infrastructure development. Cameroon’s scientific structures stand to benefit greatly from these initiatives.

Joint Declaration

On Monday, Minrezi met with Professor Sylvie Retaio, the French Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Cameroon’s ambassador to France, André Magnus Ekumu, and France’s ambassador to Cameroon, Thierry Marchand. The meeting resulted in the signing of a joint declaration, which aims to make Cameroon a center for research and innovation in the Central African subregion.

The declaration seeks to create a transparent research ecosystem, which will promote and popularize the scientific potential of Cameroonian researchers, while expanding and strengthening the platform for scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The initiative is seen as an important step towards improving scientific relations between Cameroon and France, and the joint declaration will pave the way for future collaborations and partnerships between the two countries. The event was hailed as a great success, and both countries have expressed their commitment to strengthening their scientific partnership for the benefit of both sides.
