🇮🇳 India Launches National Drone Manufacturing Corridor Linking Bengaluru–Hyderabad–Nagpur

Date:

The Government of India has formally announced the establishment of a National Drone Manufacturing Corridor, a strategic, multi-state industrial belt linking three major technological and industrial centers: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Nagpur. The initiative is explicitly designed to position India as a major global hub for both commercial and defense drone (UAV) production and exports. The corridor is slated to host over 120 factories dedicated to manufacturing drones and their high-tech components. These facilities will receive support from large public sector undertakings like Bharat Electronics (BEL) and HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited), alongside private startups funded through the Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO).

To incentivize this rapid growth, the government has rolled out a suite of new policies, including fast-track approvals from the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), generous subsidies for integrating cutting-edge AI-based navigation systems, and targeted tax credits for export-focused drone clusters. This support is crucial given that India’s drone exports grew an impressive 114% Year-over-Year in the 2024–2025 period, driven by surging demand across agriculture, mining, logistics, and surveillance sectors. The successful development of the corridor is expected to create an estimated 90,000 new jobs and propel the overall valuation of India’s burgeoning drone industry to reach US$14 billion by 2030. This makes the initiative a cornerstone of the nation’s wider ‘Make in India’ and technological self-reliance goals.
